Pop-Up Magazine is returning to Brooklyn.
The renowned “live magazine” announced it would return to the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House on May 29 for its upcoming 2019 Spring issue tour in a press release on Tuesday.
Headlined by comedians Michelle Buteau and Mohanad Elshieky, the issue features a story about a man’s quest for free Burger King Whoppers for life, the rise and fall of an architectural marvel in São Paolo, Brazil and an exploration of the world of Indian weddings. Other contributors include journalists Jon Mooallem and Jason Parham, filmmakers Denise Zmekhol and Sam Green and photographer Natalie Keyssar, among others.
Around since 2009, each issue of Pop-Up Magazine takes the form of a live show where writers, radio producers, filmmakers and other artists perform new multimedia stories, accompanied by an original score, that could only ever be seen in-person.
Tickets are available through the magazine’s website now.
