Meghan Markle's estranged family have claimed that she "cut ties" with them because she didn't think they were "good enough" for the royal family.
The Duchess of Sussex's father, Tom Markle, and half siblings Samantha and Thomas Jr have sat down for an interview with Australian TV programme 7NEWS Spotlight.
During the chat they discussed the fractious relationship between them and 41 year old Meghan, who married Prince Harry in 2018 with none of them in attendance.
Meghan's now-estranged father Thomas was due to walk her down the aisle, but he had a stroke just days before the nuptials.
She cut ties with him and the rest of the family after it emerged that he had staged paparazzi photographs in the lead up to the wedding.
When asked by the interviewer why they think Meghan would publicly distance herself from them, they said that they didn't think she thought they were "good enough".
Samantha claimed: "What she [Meghan] told the royal family, what she told Harry wouldn’t have jived, wouldn’t have been consistent with the truth."
She didn't hold back in her criticism of Meghan as she claimed that she "would still be a waitress" if it wasn't for her father, Thomas.
Samantha also weighed in on Harry and Meghan's relationship, which she branded "toxic", saying: "They are really unhealthy for each other. It’s a toxic relationship."
The family shared previously-unseen footage from Meghan's childhood, including when she was made homecoming queen during her high school days.
She could also be seen on a fishing trip, playing baseball and attending dance lessons.
Thomas Markle Sr used the interview to declare that he still had hopes of a reunion with his daughter, to whom he was once so close.
"I wish that we could sit down and talk. I wish we could work out our differences," he said.
"She loved me. I’m her hero. And suddenly I was thrown out."
Thomas also addressed his reasoning for leaking a private letter Meghan sent him few years ago to the press, saying that he had to "get his side out" after she had shared it with friends.
