In case you haven’t been on the internet in the last five weeks, people are not too happy about the way Game of Thrones is going. There’s literally a petition going around for a redo of the final season.
At this point, a million people have signed it. “David Benioff and D. B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e., the books) to fall back on,” it reads. “This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
Earlier this week, Variety posted an article about this and teased it on its Instagram feed, writing, “A petition by an angry fan demanding that HBO remake the final season of #GameOfThrones has now been signed by more than 450,000 people.”
And randomly, Riverdale‘s Lili Reinhart jumped in to comment on that. “This is not how television works… TV shows are not fan service. It’s ridiculous of people to think they can demand creative change from artists,” she wrote.

But people are taking issue with her line of thinking. Over 300 people have replied to her comment, most of them calling her out for what feels like a subtle dig at the fans that keep these shows running.
“Are you being serious? TV shows aren’t a fan service? Those ‘fans’ aka viewers are who keep shows on air which in turn delivers actors like you your paychecks,” one person wrote. “I understand your point but you need to wake up if you think that shows aren’t made for viewers.”
And another wrote, “But like they literally are ‘fan service.’ Because if fans didn’t watch your show… IT WOULD BE CANCELLED! Literally you need to please your fans or there is no show.”
Wow! Strong feelings all around. Your move, Lili.
