Lady Gaga thinks you’re stupid. She would have you believe, according to People, that she didn’t even know when the Oscar nominations were happening. She claims she “didn’t know anything about it”, and that she slept right through them. Gaga, please. Have some respect for your fans, and more importantly, for yourself. You are doing too much!
As you know, Lady Gaga was nominated for 2 academy awards for A Star Is Born, Best Actress and Best Original Song. And in what is perhaps the greatest acting feat of its career, The Gagabot 3000 is now programmed for “Gushing Humility” (that’s as opposed to its previous programming which was “Diamond in the Rough”). And it’s leaving its maker, Bradley Cooper, in its dust.
Soon after the nominations were announced, Lady Gaga spoke to The New York Times about her experience of finding out she’d been nominated (via People):
The singer, 32, told The New York Times on Tuesday she slept through the nominations but “woke up about 8:30.”
“I didn’t know anything about it,” Gaga said.
She then dialed her manager, who told her the news. “I just burst into tears,” Gaga told the Times.
Gaga elaborated on the story for the Los Angeles Times, saying “I literally just found out about the nominations a little while ago”. She claims that her fiance usually “will leave me a note in the morning if there’s nominations”, which, OK girl. This time though, there was no note, so she called her manager because he’s “good with bad news…. And then he told me all the nominations, and I just started crying”. But, plot twist!
[Update: Lady Gaga’s publicist informed The Times that the note was found.]
As for Bradley, her “1/100”, her simply being nominated, should be honor enough.
Well, you know, you never know what’s going to happen. But at the end of the day, he knows that he’s the best director in my eyes, and in all of our eyes as his cast. I know that he’s so happy that we’ve all been nominated and that the film was recognized and we all feel really, really beyond elated for the recognition.
I feel like Lady Gaga is a breath away from going full 1946 Joan Crawford and will pretend to be sick on the day of the show because she’s afraid of losing to Glenn Close in person but will have a camera crew and a full hair and makeup team at the ready in her boudoir, so she can accept the award from bed.
