House Delegate Stacey Plaskett quoted hip-hop music while making her presentation at Donald Trump‘s second impeachment trial.
Plaskett is one of the nine impeachment managers prosecuting the case against the former President. They are Democrats from the House of Representatives.
Plaskett, who represents the U.S. Virgin Islands, wrote on Twitter, “During my presentation in the impeachment trial yesterday, I made two references from the hip hop genre: ‘The truth is usually seen and rarely heard’ from GZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and ‘Truth is truth, whether denied or not,’ from Run the Jewels.”
She also shared a clip of her delivering remarks on the Senate floor on Wednesday.
These lines were quoted from the lyrics of Run the Jewels’ “Early” and GZA’s “Breaker, Breaker.”
Run the Jewels’ El-P jokingly reacted by saying, “I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. Ok I didn’t see it coming.”
The impeachment managers have argued that Trump is responsible for the deadly riot at the Capitol on January 6 by “inciting insurrection” in a speech to supporters hours before the Congressional meeting to certify Joe Biden‘s presidential election win.
