Gabrielle Union Gives Her Daughter Kaavia a Lesson in Self-Love

Gabrielle Union is teaching her daughter Kaavia James Union Wade to love herself.

The star posted an adorable Tik Tok video of herself and her 2-year-old daughter swimming in a pool. In the Tik Tok, Union sports a beige bikini and her new short hair, while Kaavia wears a pink butterfly-print toddler bikini.

The video begins with Union showing Kaavia her beauty marks, saying “Mommy has a lot of moles.” Kaavia responds saying she does not have moles, and Union clarifies that she has a couple. After clarifying that Kaavia’s lip is not a mole, Union points out one on the toddler’s foot. She then explains, “But see, it’s not bothering anyone, so you just leave it … it’s a part of you.”

After Union explains to Kaavia that her mole is simply a part of her, the 2-year-old does a happy dance, saying “Yes! We got moles!”

Union captioned the video, “Teaching her to love every part of herself.”

We got moles!!! #selfacceptance #selflove #affirmations #tiktokpartner

In addition to the lesson in self-love, Union has recently been posting humorous videos of her daughter, who turns three in November. Last week, Union posted a video of herself and Kaavia laughing in a car, as the toddler attempted to buckle her car seat. Earlier this year, Union shared a video of the two-year-old denying her mother bites of her pasta dinner.

Union has also espoused the importance of self-love and self-acceptance to her other children with husband, Dwyane Wade. She previously opened up to People about encouraging her 14-year-old stepdaughter, Zaya Wade, to be her true self.

“I was raised to assimilate. I was raised to conform. But we are raising our kids to know they are worthy because they exist. We don’t want them to ever shape shift for anyone else’s approval or acceptance. We want them to be free to be who they are,” Union told the outlet.
