Is it the end of a comedic era?
Ellen DeGeneres has dropped the bombshell she’s considering quitting her daytime television show — and she’s torn between listening to her wife Portia de Rossi telling her to move on and her brother Vance DeGeneres insisting she stay.
“After doing the show for 16 years, it’s second nature,” the comedian’s sibling told The New York Times. “She wanted to break out of, not a rut, but a mold.”

“[Portia] gets mad when my brother tells me I can’t stop,” DeGeneres. 60, noted of the family feud.
Meanwhile, de Rossi, 45, defended her stance, saying she wants to see her aging wife explore all her options.
“I just think she’s such a brilliant actress and standup that it doesn’t have to be this talk show for her creativity,” de Rossi said. “There are other things she could tackle. I don’t see the end of her show as her career ending.”
DeGeneres admitted in the interview that she wants to possibly do film and portray a character that is “someone unappealing” for once.

“I wanted to show all of me,” she said. “The talk show is me, but I’m also playing a character of a talk-show host. There’s a tiny, tiny bit of difference.”
“She’s just a bit more complicated than she appears on the show,” de Rossi noted. “There’s more range of emotion.”
