BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker, 44, recently responded to a social media user, who also addressed his co-stars Naga Munchetty and Louise Minchin. The viewer complained to the broadcaster about the programme’s news bulletins.

The person in question’s issue concerned a supposed lack of golf coverage on Breakfast and believed the show had disregarded golf champion Richard Bland’s tournament win at the weekend.

It comes after British golfer Bland, 48, claimed his first European Tour title – on the 478th attempt!

Taking to the micro-blogging site, the social media user penned: “Come on @BBC… Richard Bland wins his 1st event in 478 starts on the @EuropeanTour #BetfredBritishMasters hosted by @Danny_Willett.

“Oldest player to win & he’s not mentioned, in fact the golf is never mentioned.”

Dan, who also is a keen golf-enthusiast, swiftly shut down the social media user, as he confirmed that Bland’s major golf achievement had been mentioned on more than one occasion on Breakfast.

In view of his 710,000 followers, Dan replied: “Hi… only just seen this.

“@blandy73’s amazing win was on Saturday and the show was on Monday. His win did feature on the Sunday show.

“Despite that, I also spoke at length about his win on Monday and what made it so special. It was wonderful. Have a good one.”

Bland defeated Guido Migliozzi in a play-off to win his first European Tour title, after a dramatic finish at the Betfred British Masters on Saturday.

During Monday’s broadcast, Dan’s colleague Louise took to the micro-blogging site and revealed she had returned her trophy to golf-enthusiast Dan, as she asked for some advice.

In view of her 207,000 followers, the presenter posted her usual morning selfie with her co-star.

Louise captioned the post: “Good morning, after a year and a half I have handed my golf trophy back to @mrdanwalker and am wondering whether I should try and defend my title!”

Fans urged the star to take on the challenge, as one penned: “You must defend your title! Come on Louise, you can do it!!!”

Another quipped: “No, just keep the bragging rights.”

While a third simply added: “Defend!”

Elsewhere, Dan recently revealed he had been placed on a six-month ban by his wife after he suggested a film they didn’t enjoy.

The broadcaster took to the micro-blogging site and shared that he and Mrs Walker had watched an action film, but it was not to his partner’s liking.

Dan revealed that as a result of his error he had been placed on a six-month ban on future film proposals.

The dad-of-three penned: “Just watched #Tenet with Mrs Walker… or at least we think we did!

“I have no idea what it was about. My wife has banned me from making film suggestions for at least six months.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am.
