Coleen Nolan's son has hit back at a comedian who mocked his aunts Linda and Anne following their cancer diagnosis.

Linda, 61, and Anne, 69, both revealed they had been diagnosed with cancer last week, bravely posing together after losing their hair.

The news comes as a fresh tragedy for the singing family, who lost sister Bernie to the disease seven years ago.

Their nephew Shane has now taken to social media to furiously hit out at comedian Mark Jones who joked about his aunts' appearances.

Mark took to Twitter to share an image of the sisters, captioning the post: "Right Said Fred are looking well."

The cruel joke referenced the pop duo — famous for their 1991 hit I'm Too Sexy — formed of brother Fred and Richard Fairbrass, who are both bald.

Shane reacted on his own Twitter page, writing to his 36,400 followers: "Imagine being one of those people who write horrible things online and think they're funny and brave cos nobody can see or find them [sic].

"Writing about someone's who's family is suffering with cancer, there really is some disgusting and vile people around. I don't get it [sic]."

One fan replied to Shane: "I'm quite literally dumbstruck by it mate. I didn't think he would do something so vile."

Shane responded: "Sad thing is, I'm not. I get s**t everyday, but to get it from someone who has worked with my family and in the business just shocked me tbh. He's apologised now and deleted the tweet so I won't say anymore but I really wasn't happy mate [sic]."

He then urged people to stop attacking Mark on the social media platform after he was inundated with messages from fans of the Nolans.

"Guys @mistermarkjones has apologised now. Was a stupid tweet and he feels a d**k. Let's leave it at that. Just hope other people can learn from that. #Bekind," he explained.

Mark also broke his silence on the matter, replying to Shane: "Thank you Shane. I appreciate that hugely.

"I've tried to reply to the many people who have messaged me and apologise for my tweet. I don't hide from my mistakes. Once again, I'm very sorry," he continued.

On Monday, Coleen broke down in tears during an appearance on Loose Women as she discussed her sisters' illnesses.

She said: "My sisters, they're obviously devastated, but they've battled it. They're nearly at the end of their chemo. It's difficult for me to sit at home and cry for myself when I see them being so stoic and laughing.

"Obviously they have days where they are incredibly ill and Maureen and Denise give us the info on those days. It's really hard because I can't go and see them, they're high risk."
