Bruce Springsteen, Bob Weir, Lucinda Williams and many more will celebrate late Clash frontman Joe Strummer‘s birthday during a special livestream charity event on August 21.
Former Democratic Representative Beto O’Rourke will also make an appearance along with Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme.
The concert, titled “A Song for Joe: Celebrating the Life of Joe Strummer,” will be livestreamed beginning at 3 pm ET. It will also feature never-before-seen Strummer footage.
The event is co-produced by singer and guitarist Jesse Malin, Jeff Raspe and Joe Strummer estate manager David Zonshine.
“This tribute to Joe is not only a great way to honor him, but to also remind people how important his message is right now,” said Malin, who is also the show’s host.
Strummer’s widow Lucinda Tait said it is “really touching” to see so many musicians and artists come forward to honor her husband.
All donations made by viewers during the event will benefit the National Independent Venue Association’s Save Our Stages campaign.
