A veteran NYPD cop shot himself in the head in his Queens home Wednesday evening — just a day after another NYPD officer committed suicide in Yonkers, police sources told The Post.
The officer, who has worked for the department for more than 20 years, shot himself at his Laurelton home soon after 6 p.m., the sources said.
Medics responded and rushed him to Long Island Jewish Hospital in critical condition, sources said.
The tragic shooting comes just a day after off-duty officer Johnny Rios fatally shot himself at about 3 a.m. Tuesday in the home he shared with his fiancée and her children.
Rios was the eighth cop suicide in the NYPD this year.
