Who was UK rapper Cadet, how did he die and was he related to grime artist Krept?

This year, he was set to perform at Wrieless Festival to deliver a jaw-dropping performance along with the likes of Cardi B, ASAP Rocky, Travis Scott and Migos – however, he was tragically killed on February 9, aged 28.

How did Cadet die?

Cadet devastatingly died while travelling in a cab in the early hours of February 9 while on his way to a gig.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his family in a statement.

It read: "We the family of Blaine Cameron Johnson known as Cadet (Underrated Legend) would like to share the sad news that during the early hours of 9th February 2019 he passed away as a passenger in a taxi, en route to a performance.

"Right now we the family appreciate your patience and will share with you any information as and when we can. Thanks for your support in advance.

Who was Cadet?

Cadet was a rising star tipped for a incredibly bright future.

His celebrity fans include the likes of Craig David, Tinie Tempah, Example and X Factor's Sarah-Jane Crawford.

One of his most famous tracks was 'Advice' which also features Deno.

Cadet was also famous for his collaboration with Da Beatfreakz, AJ, Deno and Swarmz on the single Pumpy.

Was Cadet related to Krept?

Yes he was – the pair were cousins.

Cadet and Krept were super tight, with Cadet even penning a track to his famous cousin titled Letter To Krept.

The track features the lyrics: "Yo, Dear Cuzzy Real talk I don't even know how to start this I just know that I love you."

After news broke of Cadet's death, Krept wrote on Twitter that he was "absolutely broken."

He added: "My life will never be the same again. I love you and will forever miss you. I cant believe it. I am heartbroken. Rest in peace cuz. You finally started getting the recognition you deserved. Im so proud of you. My left lung. Im devestated and broken right now."

Cadet's last post was about his single Advice featuring Deno.

It read: "We Turned A Car Freestyle Into Nearly 5 Million Views On YouTube, Millions Of Streams & A Billboard. Lil Bro @denodriz I’m So Proud Of You. Let’s Keep It Going."

Cadet also had an Instagram account, however, that has now been set to private.
