Pokémon Detective Pikachu was just screened to members of the press in Tokyo, ahead of the film’s release early next month. Their initial reactions are arriving on social media now.
The response has been positive so far, with those in attendance praising the film as cute, accessible, and a must-see for Pokémon devotees.
Den of Geek’s David Crow has dubbed the film the best video game adaptation ever and praised the casting of Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu.
IMDb’s Ian de Borja has called Pokémon Detective Pikachu “painfully cute.”
JoBlo’s Paul Shirey reckons the movie is “perfectly suited for fans and non-fans alike.”
