Right now, the only focus of Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) in Coronation Street is finding and saving missing Carla Connor (Alison King). Feeling to blame for Rana Habeeb’s death, Carla has suffered episodes of psychosis and eventually fled the Street when Peter tried to get her medical help.
With each passing day that she is gone, Peter worries more and more about what will become of her and recent pictures showed her in a bad state, sleeping rough. Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has the suggestion to set up a #FindCarla campaign on social media and before long, Peter is given hope when someone contacts with a potential sighting of her.
He heads to Carla’s old estate where the man claims to have seen her and he requests cash in exchange for telling Peter more. Ken (William Roache) is skeptical and suggests they call the police instead but Peter goes alone to the derelict house, where he hands over a wad of cash. But could he be being duped?
When the police do get involved, they inform Peter that Carla has indeed been seen near the squat and recently withdrew cash from her bank account in the area. As Peter heads back to the squat, who loses his cool when they are unco-operative with him and he lashes out, getting rough with one of the squatters, forcing Johnny (Richard Hawley) to pull him away.
Peter begs them for help and hands over a phone number for them to contact him if they can give him any information on Carla’s whereabouts. Reaching breaking point, Peter is in a bad way at home as the weight of his helplessness threatens to consume him.
As Simon comes in to see his father in such a state, can he pull him back from the brink and reassure them that they will get Carla home?
Or has Peter given up all hope?
