Gary Windass (Mikey North) is on the brink of losing absolutely everything in Coronation Street – with Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) still upping the pressure on him, Gary now has to try and save his relationship with a horrified Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), who is now aware of their spiralling debts – but Gary is still keeping things back as she overhears Alex Warner (Liam Bairstow) talking about loan shark Rick.
As Cathy Matthews (Melanie Hill) and Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) visit Rick to try and smooth things over, it’s clear that Rick isn’t going to let this go and he tells them that Alex owes him. Meanwhile, Sarah is disgusted by Gary’s actions and the lengths he has gone too and he faces her ending the relationship.
As his world comes crashing down, he has been the victim of a nasty attack and Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) finds him battered and bruised at the building yard with the van and tools stolen. And when Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) finds out, she is forced to make a decision about Gary’s future at the business.
Sarah is meanwhile telling Bethany (Lucy Fallon) that she wishes she had never got involved with Gary but Gary begs Bethany to try and talk Sarah round as he is convinced that they can still have a future together as he loves her.
Bethany agrees and Sarah reluctantly decides to meet Gary for a drink. He is clearly remorseful and begs her for another chance as well as promising that he will break off all involvement with Rick.
But will Rick really be prepared to let him go so easily and can Gary convince Sarah that he can fix this mess and still be trusted?
Or have his recent actions caused him to lose the woman he loves as well as everything else?
