Gemma Collins reveals she signed up for Dancing On Ice to have a baby

Gemma Collins has revealed the real reason she signed up to Dancing On Ice – so she can have a baby.

The TOWIE star is dying to start a family with her boyfriend, James ‘Arg’ Argent, and has explained how taking part in the ITV show is all part of the story.

Appearing on today’s Loose Women , she told Andrea McLean, Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore and Saira Khan, about her two-and-a-half stone weight loss.

And she said that she knew by signing up for the show, she’d lose the weight doctors told her she needed to in order to conceive.

She said: "I was told I needed to lose weight [to have children] so that’s why I decided to do the show to better myself in the long term."

Opening up about her hope of becoming a mum, she continued: "I’ve definitely struggled with it because a lot of my friends from TOWIE have gone on to have a baby and people would say to me, ‘When are you going to have one?’

"I was told I would struggle to conceive but then I got two other opinions and it turns out everything is going to be okay, I just needed to lose weight."

Gemma said her boyfriend is desperate to be a dad, and that she knows he’ll be a great one because he’s so good with their friends’ children, including Ferne McCann’s daughter Sunday.

Gemma said: "Arg is the one that keeps going on about it but then he says, ‘I’d like to be married first’ and I say to him, ‘Go and get that yellow diamond and we’ll get things moving’."

She added: "When I have my child I want to give it my all and at the minute I’ve been very busy with my career and when I have that baby I want to love it so much I’ll never let it go, I want to give it my all and at the minute I don’t know where I’m going to be from day to day."

The star added that Arg is doing well since his return to rehab but that they’d agreed to "give it a year" before moving forward with their baby plans.

Gemma, who suffered a dramatic fall on the ice three weeks ago, also revealed that she won’t be fully recovered for a few more weeks.

She said: "The physio said to me that I’ve got a six month recovery on both of my knees from the fall so that’s what I’ve got to do."
