Saara Aalto has hit back at the frosty reception from some of the show’s fans who accused her of spending her childhood skating in Finland.
The X-Factor runner-up, 31, admitted she has skating experience, but had no idea how difficult Dancing on Ice was going to be.
She and partner Hamish Gaman survived the skate-off with Didi Conn last weekend.
The singer said: “In the beginning, I was all, ‘Yeah I’ve been skating before, it’s gonna be fine’. I didn’t understand how difficult it was going to be.
"I need to do all these tricks, they’re really hard, they don’t come naturally. That’s why my body is breaking! I’ve injured my elbow, shoulder, wrist and ankle! I can skate but it’s very painful.”
She said the gruelling training is changing her body, saying: “My bum is getting bigger from all the muscles. I can’t fit into my jeans!”
Dancing on Ice is on ITV at 6pm tomorrow.
