James Jordan has revealed he’s lost a whopping two and a half stone since he began training for Dancing On Ice.
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional, 40, admits he’d overhauled his diet and began a strict training regime to prepare for the physical challenge of ice dancing.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, James conceded it wasn’t just the ice skating which had made him lose so much weight.
He said: "I’ve lost a lot of weight, I’ve lost two and a half stone. I was 15 and a half stone."
James admitted his waistline expanded when he left Strictly Come Dancing in 2014.
He explained: "When I stopped doing Strictly I went from 73 kilos to 95. I was quite a big boy, I had put on a lot of weight. I didn’t feel healthy.
"When I got offered to do Dancing on Ice, I thought I’ve got to do something about this.
"I [cut out] bread that’s the main thing, I love bread. Don’t drink as much alcohol, it’s like pouring sugar in your body. And I run."
James is now the bookies’ favourite to win Dancing On Ice with 6/4 odds, although some critics have complained about his "unfair advantage" because he’s a professional dancer.
Defending his background, he said: "I understand people would l think, ‘Well you’re a professional dancer’. It’s in the title Dancing on Ice. But unless you can ice skate you can’t dance, you can’t perform. I think it’s been more my work ethic. I’ve been on the ice non-stop. I’ve trained a lot. I love it, I’m there hours and hours."
James was joined on GMB with his wife Ola as they promoted their appearance on the new series of Celebrity Coach Trip: The Road To Benidorm.
