The pair, teenagers at the time, are pictured at one of the many ballroom dancing competitions, that they competed in as youngsters.

The selfie show Kevin and Kerri-Anne are still close as they posed for the picture taken at the Strictly Come Dancing after-show party, in London hosted by the BBC on Saturday night.

Kevin’s family and friends welcomed the trip down memory lane, hailing the teenagers’ romance with the words; ‘Those were the days’.

His mother Judy wrote: ‘‘Ahhhh. Kerri Great to see you last night. Like we said; Those were the days xxx.’

Kerri-Anne, 33, from Farnham, Surrey, replied: ‘They really were the good old days!!! So, so happy for Kevin and Stacey.’

The youngsters met while Kevin and Kerri-Anne were on opposing sides of the dance-floor while taking part in Latin and Ballroom dancing competitions around the country.

‘Kerri-Anne had her dance partner and Kevin had his,’ her father Colin Donaldson, 81, told MailOnline.

‘Kerri-Anne was very good and so was Kevin, but they were competing against each other.’

Both youngsters grew up on ballroom as both sets of parents ran dance schools and were taking part in competitions while still at primary school.

Kevin’s parents Keith and Judy, from Grimsby, Lincs, were former ballroom and Latin dance World Champions.

Kerri-Anne’s parents Colin and Jacqui run the highly successful Diamonds Dance Centre in Farnborough, Hants.

Kevin went on to become the Youth World Number 1 and four-time British Latin Champion. He has won international ballroom dancing open championship titles across Europe and the Asia.

Kerri-Anne won her first international title aged just nine years old and she became the Junior open British Championship when she was 15 – winning seven national titles and five international titles.

She represented the UK at the 2012 World Ballroom Dancing Championship.

While Kevin took the West End stage before becoming a regular on Strictly Come Dancing, Kerri-Anne trained as a dance teacher and has worked with dance troupes all over the world.

She created the ‘Kings and Queens’ dance group who reached the Britain’s Got Talent 2013 semi-finals.

The pair, who are aged two years apart, are believed to have fallen in love while they were teenagers. They have remained friends after they split.

But her feet remain firmly on the ground and she still helps out at the family Diamonds dance club in Farnborough, Hants.

Kevin Clifton’s tangled love-life has become the source of recent speculation after he was recently pictured with former dance partner Louise Redknapp.

Former Eternal pop-star Louise, 44, split from football-pundit husband of 19-years Jamie Redknapp, after appearing on Strictly last year.

Kevin, 36, who has been married three times, split from his Venezuelan wife Karen in March this year.
