Green Book director Peter Farrelly has said he's deeply embarrassed and sorry after claims he liked to flash his penis resurfaced in the wake of his big win at this week's Golden Globes.
On Wednesday, New York-based style website The Cut unearthed 20-year-old stories about Farrelly and his older brother (and frequent filmmaking partner) Bobby Farrelly, with the republished excerpts claiming the younger Farrelly had a habit of tricking people into looking at his genitals.

Peter Farrelly has issued a statement confirming the republished excerpts are true.
"I was an idiot," the 62-year-old director said. "I did this decades ago and I thought I was being funny and the truth is I'm embarrassed and it makes me cringe now. I'm deeply sorry."
Green Book, which stars Mahershala Ali as a concert pianist and Viggo Mortensen as his Italian-American driver who become unlikely friends, won a Golden Globe on Sunday for best musical or comedy film.
Farrelly isn't the only person attached to the film to attract negative publicity this week. Screenwriter Nick Vallelonga has deleted his Twitter account after a post from three years ago began circulating online. The tweet in question appeared to show the writer express support for a debunked conspiracy theory about American Muslims celebrating on 9/11.
Green Book star Ali identifies as Muslim and in 2016 he became the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar, thanks to his role in Moonlight.
Several Hollywood identities have criticised Vallelonga, including La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz, who labelled the Green Book screenwriter's views "disgusting".
