Dancing Ice pro goes to war on Megan Barton Hanson over ‘overnight fame’

The feud between Love Island’s Megan Barton Hanson and her boyfriend’s Dancing On Ice partner Vanessa Bauer may be over…but no-one seems to have told Vanessa’s DOI colleague  Brianne Delcourt.

In a now-deleted tweet, the 37-year-old professional skater poured scorn on Megan for ‘falling into fame overnight’ while she and her fellow ice-skating pros ‘earn what we do now as a living.’

The alleged social media smackdown, reported by The Sun, continues a pointed post from Brianne’s Instagram earlier this week.

Sharing an image of the definition of an athlete she wrote: ‘Don’t take the p*** out of my sport. It takes a lifetime to learn a skill! We didn’t wake up one morning and become skaters, we worked out a**** off every single second of our lives!

‘Be careful of what you don’t have a clue about. Nobody that has been involved in our sport for over 30 years needs anything more but a bit of respect! If you don’t want to get helped from an [elite] athlete then do something else and stop wasting our time!

‘We all have talent. We aren’t on a reality show sitting around talking about who we are going to date next. Grow up!’

Brianne was reacting to Megan’s accusation that  Vanessa had broken up with her boyfriend as part of a ‘tactical’ campaign to score headlines.

Megan wrote: "Love that you decide to announce your breakup with your boyfriend on the night of your 1st performance with my boyfriend!

"You’ve never reached out to me once or invited me to watch you train, it pained you to introduce yourself to me last night you didn’t even look me in the eye LOL.

"Hope the tactical breakup got your the headlines you wanted babe."

Megan believes that it was a common courtesy that she was invited to meet her boyfriend’s skate partner.

When asked if Wes had invited her, she replied: "He has multiple times but I feel like, as a woman, she should have reached out to me.

"In Strictly they all meet the partners, if you’re spending three months with someone, 10 hours a day, it would be natural to say, ‘Why don’t you invite Meg down?’

"Her boyfriend got invited down. I feel like as a woman she should have reached out to me and introduced herself to me."

While Vanessa herself has striven to maintain a dignified silence, Megan has continued the rather one-sided ‘war of words,’ saying "There’s only so much I can put up with. It’s not ideal to have your boyfriend spend 12 hours a day with another woman."

Megan’s boyfriend, Wes Nelson believed that the issue was all smoothed over when he spoke to Heart radio earlier this week, saying ‘It’s a lot of pressure for Megs. It’s concluded. They’ve spoken to each other. They’re happy.

‘I don’t even know what they spoke about, I just let women get on with their women talk.’

It looks as there may be further discussions to be had.

The Mirror has approached representatives of both Megan and Dancing On Ice for comment.
